Kit Question Thread!! « Thread Started on Jul 15, 2006, 6:00pm »
Since you are probably new if you are reading this, I would like to be one of the first to say welcome to Warriors! In case you don't know anything about the book series on which this site is based, the white print that shows up on "Home" will fill you in.
Most forest cats belong to Clans. There are four of these: ShadowClan WindClan RiverClan ThunderClan
The leader of ThunderClan is me (Froststar), and I'm also the official moderator of this whole site. RiverClan leader is Amberstar. ShadowClan's is Lionstar. WindClans is now being decided. If you have any questions/complaints, come to us. If you want to be a leader, first, get enough posts to become Deputy. Then wait for the next election. Campaign and be nice to others so they will vote for you. You must be Deputy or have enough posts to be one to run for Leader.
Here are the ranks of those in the Clan and how many posts/karma you need for them.
Kit- 1-20 posts
Apprentice- 21-225 posts and positive karma
(If you wish to become a Medicine Cat, you must become a Medicine Cat Apprentice- 50+ posts and 2+karma...only two Medicine Cats per Clan.)
Warrior-226-? posts and 5+ karma
(If you wish to be an Elder- 350+ posts and a positive karma. Must have been a warrior at one time.)
(If you wish to be a Medicine Cat- 400+ posts and 10+ karma...only two Medicine Cats per Clan)
(If you wish to be a Deputy- 500+ posts and 30+ karma. Must have been a warrior and a mentor...only one Deputy per Clan.)
(If you wish to be a Leader- 900+ posts and 50+ karma. Must have been a Warrior and a Deputy...only one Leader per Clan.)
If you leave us, you will go to StarClan. Please tell us if you are leaving permanently or just for a few days on Message Board so we aren't confused. If you fail to write and haven't told us that you would be gone, I will be forced to email you. If you still refuse to write, I will have to take drastic actions. If you have not written a post in 6 months or if you have not been on at all in 4 months, I will have to erase you, which I really don't want to do.
Medicine Cats are the true healers of the Clans. They also converse with StarClan on a regular basis. If you need help with an injury/illness, please don't hesitate to visit the Medicine Cat in your camp.
Deputies can substitute for Leaders if you cannot find them, but they can never truly constitute, so if you have any questions/complaints, you can ALSO go to them. Warriors are next to them and you can also ask them for help, but don't always rely on them.
To create a post, click the "Create New Thread" button at the top right hand of the "board"/section that you want to write a topic on.
If you find out that you have a mistake in your post, you can click the "Modify Post" button after clicking on your topic.
If you would like to delete your post, click the "Delete Post" button (duh!) at the top right hand corner beside "Modify Post."
If you're wondering what the buttons "Smite" and "Exalt" are beside other cat's pictures/avatars, it is for Karma. Karma is basically a reward/punish system which you can give to others when they are deserving of it. When you see anyone going against any of the rules/the Warrior Code, please take away karma. However, when you see good things that cats do, please don't hesitate to reward them. You can only take away/give away one point of karma per hour, though, so make your decision wisely.
No God playing! "God playing" is where you "make" someone else do something. For example:
Bad: "Froststar saw another cat in the distance. It was the RiverClan Deputy, Ambereyes. As soon as Ambereyes saw the ThunderClan leader, she ran towards her and said, "Hi Froststar! Lovely greenleaf day, isn't it?"
BONK! BONK! Bad, bad, bad! Karma WILL be taken from you if you are caught God playing. Here is a good example:
Good: "Froststar saw another cat in the distance. It was the RiverClan cat, Ambereyes. Froststar meowed to her and waited for the Deputy to answer..."
That is a good way to give the other cats an opportunity to answer.
Also, make sure that you use good punctuation and grammar and (if you can) spelling. You do have a "Spell Check" button at the bottom of the screen when first writing your post. You can click on it and it's just like you're in Microsoft Word. It is easy and ensures that no karma is lost due to carelessness.
Make sure you listen to those with positions over you. If a Deputy orders you to do something and you are a kit, you had better do it. If it's an apprentice, consider it first because they are barely older than you, but try to do it anyway (if it's allowed!) Listen to Leaders in other Clans too. But always honor your Clan before anyone else's. Make sure you supply the Clan with everything before your own needs are met. For instance, always bring back the fresh kill to the pile instead of devouring it yourself.
If you have any questions, or you're absolutely new and need a name/gender/Clan/(...etc) change, please post here. Thanks!
-Froststar
I shall add several things...
1) Keep twolegs to a minimum please! You may see them come after you sometimes, but that is it!
twolegs- people StarClan- our Warrior ancestors Crowfood- spoiled prey mousebile- a mouse's bile that tastes nasty and frees you of ticks Furball- stupid head That is all I can think of! -Amberstar
(1 year later.) A few things have happened, and I have updated this post as so. Many cats are wondering about the new updates of buttons to push. Here's the scoop: when you're sending a PM or creating a post without using the quick box at the bottom of the screen, there is a button that has a whispering smiley on it and another that has a blinking 'B'. The whispering one is called the 'whisper' button. This is used to communicate with only a few specific members in a regular post or a PM with several receivers. BE WARNED: I CAN READ ALL OF THESE MESSAGES, SO DON'T PUT ANYTHING YOU'LL REGRET ME READING! This is how it's used: [ whisper = username ] message you want to send [ / whisper ] but without all the spaces...I just had to put those so it'd show up. The blink button makes the message blink. Just put the message between the brackets. ie: [ blink ] [put message here[ / blink ] but again without the spaces. I hope these hints are helpful. -Frosty (again)
