Because new kittens were having a hard time finding their way around here, I've devised this board and this particular post. Thank you Icepaw for contributing.

Below are some steps you should follow before getting upset and sending me hundreds of PM's:

1) Read this post. (self explanatory)
2) Look at any threads in the header of the forum (on the far right under "A Kit's Alphabet of Links") that clue you in on what to do.
3) Ask a question in "Kit Question Thread 2!!" and usually other Kits and Apprentices will answer it for you.
4) If the third instruction does not work out, PM a Leader or Deputy or some other authority figure that seems to know what they're doing.
5) Join a Clan. Decide by finding the description of Clans (under the "Kit Question Thread" I think) and decide what fits your personality. Or look at the top left of the header under "Current Cats" and find friends you'd like to be in a Clan with. Or simply decide on how you like the Leader. However you choose, unless you wish to be a Loner or Kittypet, every cat should have a Clan.
6) Get a banner and avatar. You can get those under the Fan Art Board. Or, you can make your own with Photoshop or Photofiltre and then upload it using Photobucket.com onto this site.
7) Make friends in story posts. Story posts (also called role plays or RPs) help you master your writing skills and also know the characters of the other cats in your neck of the woods. Also, if a Leader or an authority figure sees that you've done a good story post, chances are that they'll reward you with large numbers of posts and karma.
8) Be encouraging to other cats. They'll encourage you and help out with your problems.
9) Enter contests and vote for Leaders. Being an active part of your Clan and the forest as a whole never hurt anyone.
10) Post post post post post. Try to take an authority position. Challenge eachother to the betterment of your Clan. See how many GOOD posts you can create within a month. Start contests. PM friends and challenge them.
11) Support your Clan in any way possible.
12) Post under any existing census that is available. We'd like to know you exist. Also, post under the "Cat Bio Board" so we know your kitty's looks and charm before RPing. This makes it so much easier on everyone.
13) Have fun with it!!
