So I finally got around to creating a map code. Yes, I cheated and used a generator. Woop. Dee. Doo.

Anyhoos, I think I prolly have too many sites on the map, which could pose a problem for navigation. But it's almost 3AM, and I need to go to bed. So I'm going to stop now. We'll see how it looks tomorrow.

Where will this map go? Will it be the banner?

It could be. The original idea was to have it as the welcome screen of the site. So instead of just entering the forum when you go to the url, you see the map. So every time you click home, instead of the forum setup, it would be the map setup instead.

I have an idea, but it will take some work, including a reorganization of the whole site.

Make each category in IC a map.

In order to do this, we will have to make maps for each individual territory, and then make them clickable. The only way to do this is to trick the current setup into simply displaying pictures instead of categories. I know how to do this, don't worry about it. What I need are the images. These could be drawn, photoshopped, whatever. I just want them all to be interesting and similar.

So, here are the images I need:

1) Map of the whole forest. Does not have to be too detailed, since the only clickable sections would be THUNDERCLAN, RIVERCLAN, WINDCLAN, SHADOWCLAN, STARCLAN (highstones area), and FOURTREES.
2) Map of ThunderClan territory. Clickable sections would be THUNDERCLAN CAMP, OWL TREE, SANDY HOLLOW, SNAKEROCKS, TALLPINES, TREECUT PLACE, TWOLEGPLACE, GREAT SYCAMORE, SUNNING ROCKS.
3) Map of RiverClan territory. Sections: RIVERCLAN CAMP, TWO-LEG FARM, STREAM, FLOWER FIELD, HALF BRIDGE, HAY BALES, MOSS TREE, BRIDGE, THE RIVER.
4 Map of WindClan territory. Sections: WINDCLAN CAMP, TALL ROCK, GRASSLAND MOOR, THE SLOPE, OUTLOOK ROCK, BARE CLEARING, ABANDONED BADGER SET, GORGE, TWOLEG FARM.
5) Map of ShadowClan territory. Sections: SHADOWCLAN CAMP, CARRION PLACE, THE MARSH, SWAMP TREE, DENSE FOREST, WAVING FIELDS, CLUTTERED ROCKS.

Each of the Camps would have their own maps as well, but we can work on those later. For now, let's work on drawing these, or photoshopping them. I'll put up crude versions of what I'm talking about, hopefully soon.

I like the idea! For the map, I recommend using the rule of thirds. I would like to arrange the maps according to the rule of thirds. Look it up if you don't know what it is.

That looks really good. Yes, I am a good drawer if I apply myself, but I don't know how to upload pictures to a post. I know I have to scan it, but not the rest. Although, I sort of want to photoshop a map together and post it on the site.

It would be really cool either way.
As to uploading a picture, here's what you do:

1) Scan the picture. Then make sure you save it under something you will remember (ex: save it under pictures, Warriors Lost Gen map)
2) Create a photobucket account. It's free, and you can basically upload as many pictures as you want. You can also lighten/darken/edit it with photobucket, though I prefer PhotoFiltre (also free, though the original instructions are in French).
3) Then you can copy the url (called "direct link") and paste it here. TADA!!!

Sweet. Do you think each Clan should be in charge of making their camp's map? That way it's personalized, especially since we don't really have a camp map for any of the Clans?

Yeah, I think that we should have the maps customized. But first, we need to get people to be leaders first! I just signed up for photo bucket! Now, I will draw a map for my Clan! Sweet!

Here's an idea: go to the advertising board and go to each of the sites that has advertised here. They obviously found us somehow, so maybe they're interested in the kind of site we have here? Make sure to post in their "link back" section (if they have one, which most do) so they know that they already advertised with us. Also, it may be good to start posting on affiliate boards instead of just advertising boards. Our affiliate buttons are on the affiliate board of this website. Just copy the code.

Here is my map. Fro, can you copy the grass part and spread it around the map? Or just make it look better? The block looking things are for the labels. Sorry about how big the ic is. I modified it on photobucket but the resizing won't show up.

But you do have to make it bigger than that. In photobucket, make sure that it isn't resizing your images. It will do that most likely unless you buy the pro version, but we're gonna want to make sure it's limited as little as possible.

Click "upload." Then, go to the right of the screen and click where it says "customize your upload options." Then change the pixel size to whatever you'd like (most likely would be best if you say "best possible quality.")

You may be able to get away with resizing it. Did you scan it?

Yes, please. Remember, you can always reduce images, but you can't enlarge them without making them pixelated.

There is still a labeling box in the Thunderclan territory on left inside the trees. Then maybe you could put in the text and the link spots and enlarge it. After that, we will decide how big it should be and then you can make it the banner or something. Its gonna be SWEET!!

Aha, I missed that one. ;D
I can't decide if I want to label the map itself, or just have a mouse-over label. For example, when you toggled your mouse over TC territory, a little text box would pop up saying "ThunderClan territory" and maybe a short description. eh?

I like it. That way, the text won't take up any needed space on the map.
