((this is an excerpt of Jay's Journey, it is kind of a spinoff of Warriors, but slightly different because it's about wolves))
“Mouse, caribou, a Colorfur somewhere in ArcticClan territory, and-” he stopped talking when a growl emitted deep within his throat, “RedClan! In our territory!” Streammuzzle sniffed the air as well. She snarled.
“We need to get back to camp. From its location, they won’t be able to hear RedClan coming,” she roared. Not waiting for Jaypaw’s reply, the copper-colored she-wolf turned and raced back towards camp. Her smoky black apprentice followed. Even though thorns and brambles tore at his fur, he didn’t slow his pace. When they reached the camp, RedClan had already attacked. Nettlepace, Jaypaw's brother, was locked in combat with a crimson she-wolf. The TimberClan beta wolf, and Jaypaw's father,Rippedstar had the scruff of the RedClan beta wolf, Grapplestar. Brackenelder and Basselder were fighting a he-wolf three times their size. Marshpaw, Jaypaw's sister, was taking serious damage from a burly-looking wolf paw. The TimberClan alpha wolf, Burheart, was pacing around the RedClan alpha wolf, Sharpheart. Crystalgaze, Jaypaw's mother, was outside the nursery, viciously clawing and biting to protect the whimpering pups inside. Streammuzzle and Jaypaw leaped into the fray. As his mentor went left and he went right, he found himself facing his friend, Blackpaw. He looked forlornly at his friend, and everything seemed to move in slow motion.
“I don’t want to fight you,” he whispered.
“That makes one of us,” Blackpaw snarled as he leaped on Jaypaw, sinking his teeth firmly in his pelt. Jaypaw howled in pain and fury as the world sped back up. He threw his muscular body from side to side, trying to throw the other wolf paw off.
After what seemed like ages, RedClan retreated. “This isn’t over!” Sharpheart snarled. He disappeared into the woods with his clan.
“Mother!” Jaypaw heard Marshpaw yowl.
