Because of all the upcoming celebrations, banners and avvies can be changed to fit the "holiday". For instance: Weird Weeks. I'm a rubber chicken. It's a good thing to be. 
It's weird, and I picked it, and it's awesome. If you'd like a weird banner and/or avvy, please use the usual format and request it. You can have whatever you'd like on it as long as it's weird and as long as it's not profane or inappropriate. ;D (Gusty, no hamsters chugging alcoholic beverages this time.)
Also, if you'd like a "campaign" banner or avvy for your favorite holiday that you want voted for, request it here as well. Here are some I've made for NED:
