Hey guys, Swifty here. I need you to suggest changes to the site that might attract new members, or bring old members back in.

We get rid of the Plague. That is sorta dead and has driven a lot of people away because of the scheduling.

The plague had potential to be great, but no longer.. Silence left and now Fro did too soooo... You know... Um, what we need is originality without overpowering the original concept of the site. On proboards support and countless other discussion forums, I've seen comments about IOL like "At least it's not ANOTHER warriors site" and "There are so many warriors sites out there... It's hard to find a good forum!"

So we need to separate ourselves from the (numerous) rest. I'm thinking....


What if, and bear with me cuz I'm just throwing it out there...

We had a thing like War time and Peace time?

I've always loved the classic plots of the old warriors books where the cats run around and just live life as a cat. What if we became original by going back to the simple roots of warriors that everyone seems to have forgotten?

I was thinking that perhaps half of the year the clans are "at war" and the other half they're "at peace". It wouldn't be so divided though, maybe every three months we seiche so people don't get bored.

Another perk to this is the people who like role playing dramatic battles and such will likely want to partake in the war times, and will post then. At worst, they'll be a seasonal member for half the year. At best, they'll stick around waiting for those six months.

The people who like aimless running around and making friends and gatherings and such will like the peace times, and same principal applies to them as aforementioned.

Also, many people (myself included) don't have time to be on at certain times of the year. During certain months (November thru February) we can barely breathe, let alone log on to websites and write about cats. The switching ensures that there will most likely be a war time and a peace time during the month(s) that we have free time, whenever they may be.

Now, about the actual times. This is really up for consideration, but we can come up with a list of events that could cause war and peace, and every three months just go down the list or pick one randomly for some fun. This would be the catalyst of the next three months' state of being. I was kinda inspired by the Hunger Games box where they draw a card every 25 years or whatever, so of you've read that, it's a little like that.

So that's my take on the plot situation... It would also help a lot to have lots of clean and WORKING features that all go together... No offense to this site, but I only use the mobile app now because the random codes, features, and skins that pop up everywhere drive me a little insane. This is a huge undertaking, (been there done that, it's time consuming!) so it's not a priority. Plot and content comes first with any website. But it will help in the long run. I'm hoping maybe in the next year I'll be able to write codes for this site a little more, I'm taking programming next year lol, but in the meantime we'll have to stick with what we have!

Advertising is another huge thing. We need a classy and catchy way to draw people in. I really like the linked pictures for sites... And then we need to post them on big sites. A really beneficial place to advertise and get reviews on a forum is Proboards support. Lots of new members to be found there- it's the biggest forum out there!

So there are my ideas... Comment if you wish. ;D

Excellent ideas. However, would we use the same battle rules as before with the dice rolling and such? If so, will we also, depend the number of dice roles on the rank: Leader (lol I am a leader now! ), deputy, warrior, apprentice, and Starclan? So many questions...

Also, maybe we could have a advertising representative to scout on sites and advertise ours. That way, we would get to see new sites while we advertise ours.

Also, should I modify the header so that the August OTMs are gone and the Plague stuff is gone, too? Or should you modify it?

No I hate the dice... So pointless.

I have yet to think of a new way to fight... It's a lot easier if it's just plain role play, but with as many people as we hope to have join, that's a little too much to hope for lol.


What about if we tried to base skill on the number of training threads that the member was a part of? If we wanted to get really advanced, we would post a list of skills per clan, and as apprentices master them in training threads, they're added to their profile or something. Whichever cat has a higher number wins the skirmish.

Another variation of this could be that we find or make a code that adds a drop down list of skills that the cat can use, and the more advanced the skill, the more points it's worth. Whichever skill used that has the highest point value wins. I doubt they'd be allowed to use the same skill in a certain number of posts in a row too, like a one or three post cool down?


I'm just speculating here. Personally I prefer the second method but idk. Let me know if you have questions, I pretty much came up with that idea as I was typing. ;D


I agree with the advertisement thus as well, do whatever as long as we have a visually attractive and enthralling design.

And haha alright I'll leave you to the codes then... But if it turns out jacked up I'm fixing it. hehe.

I modified the header. I also modified the default skin from the plague. Your welcome! Hehe I can use my admin powers! YES! Now down to business. I wrote the ad. I am just waiting for swift to make it in a cool font and make it come with a pretty picture. Then we wait for members to join.
Ice, I like the second idea better too. However, we would have to depend the highest point number of the strengths on the cat's age or rank. Like, leaders, deputies and warriors would have the highest skill points possible. Get my drift?

I like it Icey, I would love it if you could find a code with that or make one. I don't think any of us are that good at HTML/JS though. Might want to request it from Smangii

And yeah PBS does requests, but I don't know how well it would work, or how talented the person would be who fulfilled the request. It takes time too. But I'll definitely look into it!

Oh, and on the points things, I'd say that they could get a ++ bonus depending on their rank for sure.

Hello guys! I am here on request from Doggy and Icey! And I'm not dead! So basically I'm still around and don't think any differently.

And then there was four... Awesome...

I agree that some serious changes need to be done around here. I would suggest remodeling since there's so few of us left right now. I can handle that. I'm good with working with the header and the behind the scenes stuff. Icey can write the codes and I'll plug 'em in Anyway, I can handle all of the updates and junk like that.

Also, I like Icey's ideas about the War/Peace times. I think your second idea would be good as well, it seems more efficient and to work better.

In addition, I'm the second in command on this site now and I'm still the Event Organizer. Once we remodel and get new stuff and ideas and whatnot, and after we recruit a bunch of people of course, I propose setting up a fun activity to get people excited about the site. Something like NED or Weird Weeks? Any of your suggestions is helpful.

So that's my plan.... I'm all for setting up anything and everything. Whatevs you need, I am here.

Ooh, another idea! What if we had like a fun initiation ceremony of sorts within the own Clans?

Allow me to apologize for not being around. To say life has been hell would be a very big understatement. The drama and just life around this site was not good for me, so I couldn't be around, but I'm back now - to at least help out.

I have very, very basic coding skills but I know enough to have coded my own site (forgotten-faces.proboards.com) and help others with coding. I also did the skin on that site.

I suggest getting rid of the dice idea. Set aside two or three people that would judge the fighting. I suggest three or four, actually. Any time there is a fight, two people wouldn't participate, and would judge. They could rotate every battle. Battles could be judged on cat age, rank, skill, late of powerplaying/god modling, and the quality of the post. These points would be judged out of ten points and all the points would be tallied together at the end. Whoever has the most points wins.

I think it would be best for the site to get rid of the way you HAVE to start as a kit. I know that has always discouraged me to make new characters and to be honest, when I first read that rule, I didn't want to join. It's annoying.

If I can think of anything else, I'll let you guys know, though last time I tried to help out, everyone got mad at me. If you don't want to bother with changing, because like it or not in order to get this site active again you're going to have to change, then don't yell at the people who are trying to help and just kindly ask them to leave.

I agree Slippy!!!! While I don't think it was getting too out of hand, I agree that things needed to calm down. I too agree that the dice need to go. They're getting way too confusing and no one can figure it out... Anyway, I'm glad you're back and ready to help! We need all the help that we can get! You can talk to Icey about coding, I think she's in charge with Swifty helping her.

I can't understand why people would get mad at you if you were only trying to help! I know the feeling, I must say as a matter of fact. Well I, for one, am glad for all the help that we can get!

As for the kit suggestion, all ideas are welcome. I'm just a little confused, can you explain your idea a bit further? If they didn't start as a kit, what would you be? And why is being a kit so bad?

Also, I know Slippaw is your main account but are you keeping any of your other characters such as Blackpaw and Poisionpaw?

Get rid of the starting as a kit thing. Just let people be whatever they want to be. Kit, apprentice, warrior, queen, elder.... Of course, high positions would have to be auditioned for or whatever your system for THAT is.

Slip: Do you (Poisonpaw) want to be my apprentice? Or Dogstar's apprentice, if you will? If you do, ya wanna start a training thread after the ad is done?
